Student & Instructor Art Show A Community Event August 16th | 12:00-2:30pm
The Baker Hunt Student & Instructor Art Show
An annual tradition, the Baker Hunt Student & Instructor Art Show features all students and instructors from the Baker Hunt community, from ages 7 on up! The Art show takes place throughout campus, and typically features 150-200 works of art created by our students and instructors. Please join us for this wonderful community event packed with art, snacks, and activities, and help us celebrate creativity in all of its forms!

Community Event | Open-mic Night | August 27th, 2026 | 6:30pm | 13+
Join us for a free, community open-mic night. We welcome poets, musicians, comedians, actors, and more. Performers are invited to participate with spoken word, comedy skits, short stories, songs, music, and even use our piano! Each participant will get up to 4 minutes on the stage. Come perform, or just watch! We will have a cash bar and snacks available for purchase.
This event is suggested for guests ages 13+, due to the potential of sensitive topics, and the uncontrolled nature of subject material, as well as to keep a quiet environment for our performers. However this is at the discretion of the parent. Nudity is prohibited.
SEATING IS LIMITED! Registration is required to attend or perform.

Baker Hunt + Purple Paisley | Work Submission Form
Use this form to register to show your art at Purple Paisley!
Baker Hunt has teamed up with Purple Paisley to bring current students of Baker Hunt a chance to show and sell their work in a professional gallery! Baker Hunt pays the rental fee for wall space at Purple Paisley, and the Artist will pay 30% of the sale of their work to Purple Paisley (standard commission process).
Here are more details:
- Submissions are accepted on a first-come first-served.
- Space is limited, but work will be changed out every 60 days.
- 2D work must fit within a 22″ x 22″ square space – including the frame (work should be framed). Stained glass is considered 2D.
- 3D work must fit within a 12″ cube space.
- Student must be currently enrolled, or have taken a class within the last 12 months to be eligible.
- Student agrees to hold harmless both Baker Hunt and Purple Paisley while work is in their possession.
- Student agrees to the 70/30 Sale Split with Purple Paisley.
- Student agrees that the work is not “inappropriate, overly sexual, or inflammatory” – if in doubt, check with the Baker Hunt office.
- Each showing window has 8x 2D slots, and 4x 3D slots – pay attention to which dates you’re registering for.
- More details provided closer to the display dates.
- One piece per student per calendar year.

Sept/Oct: Register by August 25th, Schedule Drop off/Pickup Time with Purple Paisley for September 1st, and November 3rd.

Nov/Dec: Register by October 26th, Schedule Drop off/Pickup Time with Purple Paisley for October 29th, and January 5th.

Art & Storytime! | Thursdays, June 18 – July 30 | 10:00 am
Join Baker Hunt and Read Ready Covington for a FREE Art & Storytime! Children ages 4-6 (and siblings) will enjoy a different book each week, read by a guest storyteller, then have a fun time making themed art with our Baker Hunt instructors! We end with play time outside!
Read Ready Covington is a city-wide early literacy initiative. Offering all residents access to diverse resources and information to use at home and on-the-go.
WHY? Families and our community need to better prepare our little ones with the early experiences they need to be ready for kindergarten to continue being successful through their school years.
This event is FREE, however registration is required for each event.

Discover the elegance of coastal Mediterranean cooking in this hands-on class featuring delicate Flounder en Papillote, fluffy, Herbed Couscous, and tender Lemon-Olive Oil Cake. Delicious and healthy, this dish is gently steamed in parchment with artichokes, summer squash, capers, fresh herbs, and bright lemon. Served with light, fluffy couscous, this dish is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully simple to recreate at home. To finish, you’ll bake a tender Lemon-Olive Oil Cake, the perfect sunny dessert to round out a vibrant seasonal meal.

Material Memory – Archiving the Ephemeral

Every dent, weld, and weave is a mark of time. From rigid steel and weathered stone to delicate fiber and found objects, “Material Memory” focuses on how artists use mass, texture, and form to give a “body” to fleeting thoughts and experiences. Created from the minds and hands of local artists, this show features a variety of materials, techniques, perspectives, and moods. Please join us!
Event registration encouraged, but not required.

Welcome The Last Troubadour
The Last Troubadour is an alternative band from Cincinnati who records and performs their own original music. This 4 person band has played at the Madison Theater, MOTR Pub, the Southgate House, Northside Tavern, and more. The band includes Frankie’s brother Bernie (Drums/Percussion), and friends Joe Von Wahlde (Lead Guitar), and James Wallace (Bass). Being the creative powerhouse of the band, Frankie Hill has derived his lyrics from a comic book series he created titled, “The Last Troubadour”. His lyrics follow the story line of the comic and cover themes such as love, grief, anger, and despair, as well as revolution, glory, and hope for the future. The music itself has been inspired by bands like Coheed and Cambria, Rush, Muse, and Weezer to name a few.
Art Swap
We will also have an art and book swap! Bring your unused art supplies and books, to exchange for other art supplies and books! Think about those art supplies you purchased for a project and never completed. Please do not bring items that would be considered trash, we can not keep items that do not get swapped, so please be considerate of what you are bringing. Art, art supplies, or art related items only. Thank you.
Fun Activity
In theme with the lead singers love for comics, we will also have a fun activity inspired by comics!
A few notes:
- The event starts at 6:00 pm
- Lawn chairs and picnic blankets are encouraged as chairs/benches are limited
- Performances will run to approximately 8:00 pm with a 15-minute intermission
- A selection of beer, wine, cocktails, soda, and snacks will be available for purchase, outside alcohol is prohibited
- Seating is not assigned, lawn space is first come
- This event is outdoors
- Dogs are welcome; however must be well-behaved and on a leash
- Outside food is permitted
- Parking is located in our private parking lot accessed from 7th street. On-street parking is available however, please read the signs
