Wine & Paint Event

Come to Baker Hunt and have a wonderful evening painting the town red as you enjoy creating art and partake in your libation of choice!

This workshop is perfect for an adult family get together, date night activity, or an event help you relax and craft something unique while spending some quality time with good friends.

What You’ll Experience:

You will paint the predetermined acrylic image on canvas in an instructor lead step-by-step group environment.

Due to the presence of alcohol, this is an adult (21 and up) only workshop. You will have a choice of either wine and/or beer from our Baker Hunt beer and wine list. There is a two drink limit per person, and outside alcohol is not permitted. Non-alcohol option are available and a snack tray is provided.

What You’ll Leave With:

Each attendee will leave with a beautiful, custom, acrylic on canvas copy of the selected images by the end of the workshop.

Tolkien Tankards
Saturday, October 31st
12:00-2:00pm
Ages 10-99+

Class:

Come to Baker Hunt for an adventurous evening as we travel to Middle Earth and kick up our feet in the best two taverns west of Bree, The Prancing Pony and the Green Dragon!

We will explore the magic of clay as we create a custom handbuilt tankard depicting images of either the ‘Prancing Pony’ or the ‘Green Dragon. ‘ After crafting your customized tankard, you will be able to select a finishing glaze of your choice.

AND REMEMBER…

“You can drink your fancy ales,
You can drink them by the flagon,
But the only brew for the brave and true…
..Comes from the Green Dragon!

What You’ll Learn:

Students will learn the fundamental skills needed to create their own tankard, such as:

  • Slab building
  • Slipping and scoring for attachments
  • Basic finishing techniques
  • Simple surface decoration

10 to 15 year-olds must be accompanied by a paying adult.

(Student work will go through two firings after the workshop has been completed. Baker Hunt will provide glaze options for the students and will glaze their work for them. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and is available for pick up on a later date.)

Date Night Wheel!
Friday, 6:30 pm
October 2nd | Ages 16+

Class:

Are you interested in trying wheel throwing? This is the perfect opportunity! Whether you’re treating yourself to an experience, having a friends’ night out, or going on a date with a special someone, our wheel workshops give everyone the perfect opportunity to try the art form!

What You’ll Discover:

In this class, students will be able to play with clay and try out the fundamental steps of wheel throwing. This includes :

  • Centering
  • Pulling
  • Shaping

What you will take home:

Students will leave with a new experience under their belt and a finished piece to commemorate their time!

(Please note: Student work will go through two firings after the class has concluded. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and available for pick up on a later date)

Garden Talk Series: Gravel Gardening
Saturday , 12:00 p.m.

Class:

Learn how to garden a new way, in gravel!

What You’ll Learn:

Derek Jarman, Beth Chatto, and Jeff Epping, just to name a few, show us how to create breathtaking gardens in gravel.

What You Leave With:

Tricky spots, contaminated soils, urban settings, low budgets, or simply a desire to garden a different way, gravel gardening is a beautiful, pollinator friendly way to garden. History of gravel gardens, review beautiful gardens to inspire, and discuss construction, planting, and care of your new gravel garden.

Introduction to Broom Making: Cobweb Broom

Class:

Discover the old world charm of making a cobweb broom in the traditional style. These brooms are functional but make great decorative items, and great gifts!

What You’ll Learn:

Learn the basic weaving techniques used to make a broom, with natural broomcorn (sorghum) and organic handles.  Leave with a completed project.

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a beautifully crafted cobweb broom and a deeper appreciation for the tactile knowledge carried through craft.

Turkey-Wing Hand-Broom Making

This one-day workshop introduces participants to traditional broom-making through the construction of a turkey wing hand broom. This workshop emphasizes slow making, material awareness, and the transmission of practical knowledge through the hands.

Students will learn foundational techniques of hand broom construction while engaging with the historical, domestic, and cultural significance of broom making as a craft practice.
