Stylized Pet Portraits

What You’ll Discover:

Join us at Baker Hunt for a Saturday afternoon of creativity inspired by our furry friends!

Learn to ‘Cartoon-ify’ your pet in a whimsical watercolor portrait that will give you and your pet’s home a unique piece of artwork!

What You’ll Learn:

You will learn how to break down an animal’s structure into basic shapes and simplistic lines for a simple but recognizable construction. You will then forward this new found skill to simplify and stylize a real image from a reference photo of your vary own pet.

What You’ll Leave With:

You will leave with a watercolor portrait of their own pet, and the  knowledge of how to simplify anatomical structures to create believable cartoons.

Ken Sugimori Style Watercolor: Pokémon
Saturday, 12:00 pm
June 13th | Ages 13+

What You’ll Discover:

You wanna be the very best, like no one ever was… when it comes to creating captive watercolors?

Learn how to paint Pokémon in the soothing, nostalgic watercolor style of Ken Sugimori, and learn all about the artist behind the Pokémon franchises original 151 watercolor illustrations!

What You’ll Learn:

Attendees will learn a wet-on-wet technique used by Ken Sugimori,to create his iconic soft and cloudy color look. You will also learn how to use multiple references to create a new, dynamic pose for your subject.

What You’ll Leave With:

You will leave with a better understanding of how to control and use watercolors with the wet on wet technique, have a better appreciation for Sugimori’s art work that went into the making of the first Pokémon concepts, and leave with a completed watercolor piece of their own design in the calming style of Ken Sugimori.

2-D Open Studio
Friday, 12:00 pm
July 10 – July 31 | Ages 16-99+

Class:

The class will focus on identifying students’ individual proclivities in art making, then emphasizing those in the work at hand of the medium of your choice. Mark making, drawing, composition, color, material handling, and intent will be addressed. Every artist has a ‘signature’ in their work; this class will help you discover yours.  Individual attention with each student in a shared studio is the focus.

This class serves as a time to use our studio get some additional work done on your artwork from another classes, use campus for some plein air working, or get some feed back from fellow artists, students, and Craig the instructor. Students will be given individual attention on the subject of their choosing. Familiarity with the medium is required. Students of all levels are welcome in this open-studio class.

All skill levels welcomed! (There will be a group critique to conclude the class.)

In a group learning environment, you will be working on your own current self-pace artwork, and will have the opportunity for one-on-one guidance, feedback on your artwork, and inspiration form the instructor.

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end of each class meeting you will have more confidence in the progression of your current artwork.

Multi-Layer Linocut Printmaking br/>Tuesday, 6:00 pm
July 7 – July 28 | Ages 16-99+

Class:

In this exciting new mixed media 4-week class, you will learn all about the rudimentary skills of creating a series of  linocuts creations to create wonderful layered effect print to give your carving and print more depth and help bring your prints more to life!

What You’ll Learn:

In this 4-week class, In a group learning environment you will learn how to design, carve, and print a dynamic image using multiple layers of color. Starting with the basics of linocut tools and safety, you’ll develop a simple composition and explore how to break it into separate layers for printing. You will also learn practice carving techniques, registration methods for aligning layers, and inking processes to build up rich, vibrant prints.

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end the 4 class meetings, you will have a more understanding of the properties of printmaking linoleum cuts and leave with the skill set to repeat your prints at home, and you will have completed a small edition of your own multi-color linocut print.

Carve and Color!:
Printmaking & Watercolor
Tuesday, 6:00 pm
June 2 – June 23 | Ages 16-99+

Class:

In this exciting new mixed media 4-week class, you will learn all about the rudimentary skills of creating linocuts with creating watercolor enhancements, to create wonderful and whimsical prints with stunning watercolor backgrounds and/or embellishments!

What You’ll Learn:

In a group learning environment, you will design and carve traditional linoleum blocks to create unique low relief stamps for the first two weeks, and then you will print them add watercolor backgrounds or fill in pieces they may want a pop of color to enhance your design in the last two weeks of class. You will have the opportunity for one-on-one guidance, and inspiration from the instructor.

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end the 4 class meetings, you will have a more understanding of the properties of printmaking linoleum cuts and the watercolor making process, and leave with the skill set to repeat your prints at home, along with a couple of successful prints of your class project.

Class:

Explore the medium of your choice in this 8-week open studio class. Students will be given individual attention on the subject of their choosing. Familiarity with the medium is required and no demonstrations will be given during this class. Students of all levels are welcome in this open-studio class.

What You’ll Learn:

In a group learning environment, you will be working on your own current self-pace artwork, and will have the opportunity for one-on-one guidance, feedback on your artwork, feedback guidance including color mixing, brush techniques, and drawing, and inspiration form the instructor.

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end of each class meeting you will have more confidence in the progression of your current artwork.
