DBL Community Art Show | CALL TO ARTISTS | Deadline February 25th, 2026

Baker Hunt, along with DBL Law, are pleased to present a community exhibition highlighting the work of regional 2D artists. DBL will showcase over 40 pieces of artwork on its 1st and 4th floors, curated by Baker Hunt.
The show runs from March 25th through September 4th, 2026, with an opening reception on March 25th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. A “Best of Show” award will be giving at the end of the show length.
This show contains artwork inspired by the following themes: surreal, architecture, ascend, flora, identity/portrait, abstract, and animals.


This listing is to submit artwork to the DBL “Call to Artists”

  • This call to artists begins January 22nd and ends February 25th at 9:00 am.
  • All regional 2D artists are invited to apply.
  • There is no application fee and artists are welcome to submit up to 3 pieces.
  • All sales of artwork will go directly to the artists.
  • Acceptance emails will be sent on February 27th, 2026.
  • Applying does not guarantee acceptance into the show.
  • Accepted artwork must be dropped off between March 2nd – March 6th.

DBL Community Art Show and Opening Reception | March – September 2026

Baker Hunt, along with DBL Law, are pleased to present a community exhibition highlighting the work of regional 2D artists. DBL will showcase over 40 pieces of artwork on its 1st and 4th floors, curated by Baker Hunt.

RECEPTION (Registration is required. CLICK THE REGISTRATION BUTTON TO REGISTER FOR THE OPENING RECEPTION)
Join us for an opening reception on March 25th, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the DBL Law office. Light fare and drinks will be available. Guests will have the chance to view the newly installed show and meet the artists. There will be no tours at this time, and not all artists will be present.

VOTING
Guests of the reception and guests of tours will be asked to vote for their favorite artwork. At the end of the show run, a “Best of Show” award in the amount of $200 will be given to the artist who received the popular vote.

TOURS (Registration is required)
Docent-led tours are available throughout the duration of the show. Docent tours are free, however REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Register for a tour HERE. During the tour learn about the artists, their work, themes, and engage in conversation regarding the artwork. Tours run approximately 30-40 minutes. Limited to 10 per tour. Guests of the tours are invited to vote for “Best of Show”.

CALL TO ARTISTS
There is a call to artists beginning January 22nd and ending February 25th. All regional 2D artists are invited to apply. There is no application fee and artists are welcome to submit up to 3 pieces. The City of Covington Midtown parking garage at the southwest corner of 5th Street and Scott Boulevard.  Our office building is a short one and one-half blocks northeast of the garage.  We recommend crossing to the east side of Scott Boulevard at the pedestrian crossing at 5th Street and Scott Boulevard.
  3. The Kenton County Parking Garage (attached to the Kenton County Justice Center) at 220 Madison Avenue.  Our office building is a short two blocks southeast of the garage.  We recommend walking south on Madison Avenue, then turn left on the south side of 4th Street.
  4. Metered street parking along Court Street and Park Avenue immediately to the north of our building.

Solo Art Exhibition

Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center is accepting applications for a Solo Art Exhibition in our historic ballroom gallery. The selected artist will display their work for 4 weeks, and Baker Hunt will provide an opening reception as well as up to 40 additional hours of open gallery time to exhibit the artist’s work. Please carefully read the details provided.

-Provide regional artists with an opportunity to show and sell their work
-Provide the local community with opportunities to enjoy, appreciate, and learn about art and artists in our region
-Strengthen appreciation for the arts in our community
-Continue Baker Hunt’s mission of “Art for All”!

Show Location Information
Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center, 604 Greenup Street, Covington, KY, 41011
-Historic Ballroom, containing neutral decor, oak parquet floor, plasterwork, etc.
-See the Ballroom layout and dimensions here. Overall room sizes are indicated, and linear dimensions represent hanging space. Up to 6 easels can also be used to display 2D work.
-Baker Hunt has plinths/pedestals for 3-D Work, excessively large/heavy works may be rejected

Show Timeline

-Application Deadline: December 1st, 2025
-Selection Announced: December 15th, 2025
-Installation Dates: February 26th – March 4th, 2026
-Opening Reception: March 6th, 2026
-Artist Talk/Lecture: March 12th, 2026
-Show Ends: April 3rd, 2026
-Removal Deadline: April 10th, 2026

 

Application Criteria/Eligibility:

-There is no application fee
-Artist MUST provide and show proof of their own insurance coverage of the work in the show, or sign a waiver
-Show must be 2d or 3d work. We have no ability to show film or other electronic media exhibitions
-Artists must submit a minimum of 15 works, depending on size(s)
-2d work must be framed or otherwise appropriately mounted in a way that preserves the integrity of the work from viewers/handlers.  Baker Hunt will provide plinths/pedestals for 3D work as appropriate.
-Work must be original, conceived, and created solely by the applying artist (no AI-generated work).
-Pornographic, nudes, or other inappropriate or inflammatory work may be rejected
-To be considered, artists must submit a photo of each work in the planned exhibition, including any work(s) in progress
-Artists must reside and/or work within 75 miles of Covington, Kentucky
-Installations will be considered, but we have limited ability to alter the walls, ceiling, and/or plaster-work in our historic exhibit space
-Artist application must include a CV/Resume, Artist Statement, and Bio
-Selected artist will receive a grant of $250 to help cover the artist’s expenses.
-Artist will be required to provide at least one “Artist Talk” to an audience of up to 60 people
-Artist agrees that Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center will receive 15% of all work sales
-Artist agrees to allow Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center to use provided information/images to market the show on all media channels
-Unless specific arrangements are made in advance, any work left behind after the removal deadline will be considered a donation to the Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center

 

How to Apply

-Provide pictures of all works for consideration (minimum 15), including work(s) in progress (include conceptual sketches)
-Provide a list of artwork including title, medium, appx size, year completed/in-progress, appx price
