Monster Mugs!

Class:

Just in time for spooky season, make your own hand-built monster mug! Walk through all the steps to complete your own custom ceramic monster mug, decorate, and pick up your finished, spooky mug!

During this class, students will learn the fundamental steps to create their own ceramic pumpkin.

These include :

  • simple slab building
  • Introductory surface decoration techniques
  • How to carve simple designs (if desired)

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end of this class, students will have learned some introductory skills to hand building and will have one of their own monster mugs!

(Student work will go through two firings after the workshop has been completed. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and is available for pick up on a later date.)

Paint a Pumpkin Mug!

What You’ll Learn:

During this class, students will learn the fundamental steps to decorating their own ceramic pumpkin.

These include :

  • Introductory surface decoration techniques
  • Painting with underglazes and glazes

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end of this class, students will have learned some introductory skills to painting pottery and will have their own personalized pumpkin mug!

(Student work will go through one firing after the workshop has been completed. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and is available for pick up on a later date.)

Spooky Ceramic Pumpkins!

Just in time for spooky season, make your own hand-built ceramic pumpkin! Walk through all the steps to complete your own custom ceramic pumpkin, decorate, and pick up your finished, fired spooky friend in time for Halloween!

What You’ll Learn:

During this class, students will learn the fundamental steps to create their own ceramic pumpkin.

These include :

  • Pinch pot method
  • Introductory surface decoration techniques
  • How to carve simple designs (if desired)

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end of this class, students will have learned some introductory skills to hand building and will have 1-2 of their own pumpkin friends!

(Student work will go through two firings after the workshop has been completed. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and is available for pick up on a later date.)

Beginner Handbuilding
Saturdays, 12:00pm
October 24 – November 14 | Ages 16-99+

Class:

Explore the magic of clay as you learn the uniquely expressive qualities of clay to create pottery and sculpture.  Students will create beautifully glazed and fired ceramic ware as they work on teacher-led projects and practices. Come join us and create your next favorite fictional piece or your new favorite piece of home décor.

What You’ll Learn:

In a group learning environment, you will learn step-by-step instructions to develop various hand-building techniques including pinching, coiling, slab-making., unique shaping techniques, and surface manipulation to create functional and/or sculptural ceramic projects designed by the instructor.

***(Students are required to follow the instructor’s curriculum. Only work produced from that curriculum will be fired.)***

What You’ll Leave With:

Depending on the disciplinary skill of the student, a student may leave with 4-5 pieces.

(Students will submit glazed works for final firing on the last class of the session. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and available for pick up on a later date)

Supply List

Students will need to bring:

  1. Own set of clay tools
  2. Small clay work sponge
  3. Approximately 2ft x 2ft piece of canvas
  4. (Optional but recommended) Small/detail paintbrushes for glazing
  5. (Optional but recommended) Plastic bags for wrapping work

Students will be provided:

  1. Clay
  2. Glazes
  3. An assortment of general clay tools to use in class
