Explore the magic of clay as we create beautiful pieces of pottery, in a positive and creative atmosphere. This class focuses on the foundations of clay handling, technique development, glazing, and decorating as they work on teacher-led projects and practices.

Students are required to follow the instructor’s curriculum. Only work produced from that curriculum will be fired.

What You’ll Learn:

Student’s will learn fundamental skills in handbuiling such as building from pinch pots and coils, introductory surface decoration, and the basics of glazing.

What You’ll Leave With:

Students taking this class will learn introductory skills in ceramics and will leave with 2-5 pieces.

(Students will submit glazed works for final firing on the last class of the session. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and available for pick up on a later date)

Explore the magic of clay as you learn the uniquely expressive qualities of clay to create pottery and sculpture.  Students will create beautifully glazed and fired ceramic ware as they work on teacher-led projects and practices. Come join us and create your next favorite fictional piece or your new favorite piece of home décor.

What You’ll Learn:

In a group learning environment, you will learn step-by-step instructions to develop various hand-building techniques including pinching, coiling, slab-making., unique shaping techniques, and surface manipulation to create functional and/or sculptural ceramic projects designed by the instructor.

***(Students are required to follow the instructor’s curriculum. Only work produced from that curriculum will be fired.)***

What You’ll Leave With:

Depending on the disciplinary skill of the student, a student may leave with 7-9 completed pieces of pottery from 25lb bag of clay.

(Students will submit glazed works for final firing on the last class of the session. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and available for pick up on a later date)

Deadline to register by: March 15th

  2. (1x) bag of clay

Explore the magic of clay as you learn the uniquely expressive qualities of clay when you develop more advanced handbuilding techniques from previous handbuilding classes, to create both functional and sculptural work. Students will explore advanced pinching, coiling, slab making, and surface alteration as they work on teacher-led projects and practices. Come join us and create your next favorite fictional piece or your new favorite piece of home décor!

What You’ll Learn:

In a group learning environment, you will learn step-by-step instructions to develop more in-depth hand-building techniques including pinching, coiling, slab-making., unique shaping techniques, and surface manipulation to create functional and/or sculptural ceramic projects designed by the instructor.

*It is preferred that students have previously take a beginning handbuilding course before rolling, or have previous clay working experience.*

***(Students are required to follow the instructor’s curriculum. Only work produced from that curriculum will be fired.)***

What You’ll Leave With:

Beginner Sculpture: Spring Wildlife
Monday, 6:30 pm
March 16 – May 4 | Ages 16-99+

Class:

Dip your hands into the world of ceramic sculpture! Learn how to use hand building techniques and underglaze decoration to create sculptures inspired by your favorite spring mammals! This beginner level class introduces sculpting techniques to students who have had prior experience with clay working and will have a focus on small mammals (think bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks, groundhogs, foxes, etc.).

What You’ll Learn:

In a group learning environment, you will learn step-by-step instructions of the fundamentals of basic handbuilding construction techniques such as: pinch pots, slabs, coil, and additive and subtractive processes. You will also learn sculptural techniques such as carving, texturing, dynamic and in-the-round posing, balance, and positive and negative space compositions as you create your favorite mammals.  You will also learn about basic glazing finishing skills for completing your ceramic sculptures.

***(Students are required to follow the instructor’s curriculum. Only work produced from that curriculum will be fired.)***

What You’ll Leave With:

Depending on the disciplinary skill of the student, they will leave with 1-3 completed pieces by the end of this class.

(Students will submit glazed works for final firing on the last class of the session. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and available for pick up on a later date)
