Florals in Soft Pastels

July 7 – July 28 | Ages 16+

Class:

This 4-week course is designed to help students develop their basic understanding of how to use the soft pastel medium, while understanding basic addresses to composition and perspective, practicing shading, texture, and by the process of drawing still-life’s, portraits, and abstract compositions. Perfect for beginners and intermediate artists, this course offers both instruction and hands-on practice to build confidence and creativity in drawing the figure and using soft pastels.

What You’ll Learn:

Each week, students will explore different technical skill and simple techniques to create a pastel rendering.  Students will work in a group-learning environment, and will also have the opportunity for one-on-one guidance and feedback on their artwork from the instructor.

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in using soft pastels understanding of the techniques learned throughout the class, and students will obtain an average of 1 – 3 completed pieces based on the students dedication.

Baker Hunt provides basic materials for the class. But we suggest students to bring their own materials that they are most comfortable using.

  • Pastel-toned paper with colors (pad or individual sheets)
  • Pastel boards or sanded pastel paper (your choice of drawing surface)
  • Soft Pastels of the students choice
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Soft vine charcoal

Celebrating Black Heritage:
Juneteenth Figure Drawing

June 19 | Adult (16+)

Class:

Continue celebrating Black Heritage by participating in this figure drawing workshop! Featuring a costumed model in traditional Southeast African or West African clothing, this class will inspire with history, heritage, color, and sound!

What You’ll Learn:

Open studio drawing workshop! If you are interested in focusing on cultural clothing pattern & drawing black hair styles, a short presentation will be given as well.

What You’ll Leave With:

Students will leave with drawings of a costumed model and a new outlook on African/Black Heritage

Drink & Draw! Caricatures With Friends!

Class: 

Spend a fun, humorous, and amusing evening at Baker Hunt with a friend, loved one, or that special someone and learn to draw their Whimsical Caricature!

In this new exciting one day workshop, you will learn to create fun amusement park style caricatures drawing while you sketch your partner in class, while creating lasting and humorous memories!

What You’ll Experience:

Due to the presence of alcohol, this is an adult (21 and up) only workshop. You will have a choice of either wine and/or beer from our Baker Hunt beer and wine list. There is a two drink limit per person, and outside alcohol is not permitted. Non-alcoholic options are available and a snack tray is provided.

You will learn tips and tricks of how to render a simplistic caricature sketch of a person. Then you’ll spend time sketching your partner using the basic caricature supplies; pencils, pastels, and outlining markers.

What You’ll Leave With:

You will leave with a fun one of a kind caricature portrait, the knowledge of the basic fundamental skills of caricature making, and a fun memory with your partner.
