Inspired by the upcoming Covington Convention event: CONington: A Celebration of Tabletop on APRIL 24th through APRIL 26TH, come join us at Baker Hunt the following weekend for workshops inspired by the themes of the convention!

This entertaining workshop keeps the festivities going from the convention by having attendees create, design, and draw their own imagined character.

Do you spend your daydreaming about your own original characters? Do you like to draw these characters, but you feel like they’re not quite what you imagined? Then let’s strengthen that design! Come down and learn what makes for an iconic character like Luffy, Darth Vader, or even SpongeBob. This intermediate workshop is perfect for young artists looking for inspiration or to sharpen their skills.

What You’ll Learn:

During this workshop , you will learn the basics of visual story telling. These basics will include understanding the difference between strong and weak design, using silhouettes to make identifiable characters, and communicating character traits through shape language, as well as simple color theory.

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end of this class, you’ll walk away having learned how to strengthen your character’s design, use it to tell a story, and be satisfied that the character you envisioned is on the page.

Adventurer’s Feast!
Cooking Class for Ages 21+
Friday, May 1st | 5:30-8:00pm

Inspired by the upcoming CONington Convention. Step into a world of fire, flavor, and fantasy in this one-of-a-kind immersive cooking class led by Chef Catrina Mills. Inspired by the spirit of Dungeons & Dragons, this hands-on experience invites you to cook like an adventurer preparing a feast after a legendary quest. While preparing your feast of Vedbread, Greenspear Bundles, Adventurer’s Stew and Upside-Down Cakes, enjoy a festive beverage such as Blood of the Fallen, Sorcerer’s Spark, Tavern Brawler, or Bard’s Bad Decision (it’s our beer and wine list – 2 drinks per student – alcohol and n/a options available). Class is for adults ages 21+; students work in pairs, bring a fellow traveler!

Menu:

  • Vedbread (mushroom pinwheel rolls)
  • Greenspear Bundles (bacon-wrapped asparagus)
  • Adventurer’s Stew (beef and potato stew)
  • Pineapple Upside-Down Cakes

Illuminated Fantasy Bestiary

This entertaining workshop keeps the festivities going from the convention by having attendees create their own Illuminated Manuscript Page, depicting a mythical creature.

This workshop is perfect for an family get together, date night activity, or an event help you relax and craft something unique while spending some quality time with good friends while learning a new skill!

What You’ll Discover:

Students will learn how to make a faux illuminated manuscript page that includes an illustration of a fantasy creature or animal of their choosing, they will elegantly write a brief description of the creature featuring an illuminated letter, and plenty of imaginative doodles and decorations in the margins!

What You’ll Learn:

You will learn how to make a faux illuminated manuscript page by imitating the drawing style of medieval manuscripts (namely the Aberdeen Bestiary), use colored ink to bring their illustrations to life, and learn to create basic blackletter calligraphy to adorn the first sentence of their Bestiary.

What You’ll Leave With:

Attendees will leave with a unique and custom illuminated manuscript page of their own design, a brief history of the art form, and leave with the skills and knowledge to create art in the specific stylized way of medieval illuminated manuscripts.

Dice Guardians

This entertaining workshop keeps the festivities going from the convention by having attendees sculpt personalized and unique DICE GUARDIANS!

This workshop is perfect for an family get together, date night activity, or an event help you relax and craft something unique while spending some quality time with good friends.

What You’ll Discover:

You will learn tips and tricks of how to sculpt using air-dry clay to create a whimsical Dice Guardian. You can either follow along with the instructors example or create your own creation that best fits your favorite D&D or Tabletop Game design and/or character!

What You’ll Create:

Each attendee will be able to take home their very own dice guardian at the end of the class!

(Please note: This class will use air dry clay. This is to make the learning process easier for attendees as well as allowing them to take home their work the same day. Clay will need, on average, 24 hours to fully dry.)

This workshop is perfect for an adult family get together, date night activity, or an event help you relax and craft something unique while spending some quality time with good friends.

And you don’t have to “ROLL FOR INITIATIVE” to have fun in this class!

What You’ll Experience:

Due to the presence of alcohol, this is an adult (21 and up) only workshop. You will have a choice of either wine and/or beer from our Baker Hunt beer and wine list. There is a two drink limit per person, and outside alcohol is not permitted. Non-alcohol option are available and a snack tray is provided.

You will learn tips and tricks of how to decorate and paint your door mat. Then you’ll decorate your welcome mat with painted images of your favorite D&D or Tabletop Game designs and embellishments.

What You’ll Leave With:

You will leave with one beautiful, custom, and decorative welcome door mat.

This entertaining workshop keeps the festivities going from the convention by a step-by-step instruction, small group learning environment, attendees of the class will create your very own individualized stained glass D-12 SUNCATCHER !

In this Adult workshop, you discover the basic steps and the tools used in the Stained Glass making process. 

And you don’t have to “ROLL FOR INITIATIVE” to have fun in this class!

What You’ll Learn:

You will learn how to properly use the basic tools of a stained glass artist, and you will learn the FOUR basic steps of the stained glass making process: Glass Cutting, Glass Grinding, Foiling, and Soldering. 

What You’ll Leave With:

By the end of the two hour workshop, you will have learned and experienced first-hand all the steps of how to make a piece of stained glass art, and you will leave with a completed Stained Glass D-12 pattern.
