DBL Community Art Show and Opening Reception | October – April 2027

Baker Hunt, along with DBL Law, are pleased to present a community exhibition highlighting the work of regional 2D artists. DBL will showcase over 40 pieces of artwork on its 1st and 4th floors, curated by Baker Hunt.

This show contains artwork inspired by the following themes: futuristic, movement, identity, local, abstract, memories, flora, and other.

This listing is to register for the OPENING RECEPTION

 

RECEPTION (Registration is required. CLICK THE REGISTRATION BUTTON TO REGISTER FOR THE OPENING RECEPTION)
Join us for an opening reception on October 14th, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the DBL Law office. Light fare and drinks will be available. Guests will have the chance to view the newly installed show and meet the artists. There will be no tours at this time, and not all artists will be present.

VOTING
Guests of the reception and guests of tours will be asked to vote for their favorite artwork. At the end of the show run, a “Best of Show” award in the amount of $200 will be given to the artist who received the popular vote.

TOURS (Registration is required)
Docent-led tours are available throughout the duration of the show. Docent tours are free, however REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Register for a tour HERE. During the tour learn about the artists, their work, themes, and engage in conversation regarding the artwork. Tours run approximately 30-40 minutes. Limited to 10 per tour. Guests of the tours are invited to vote for “Best of Show”.

CALL TO ARTISTS
There is a call to artists beginning July 24th and ending September 4th. All regional 2D artists are invited to apply. There is no application fee and artists are welcome to submit up to 3 pieces. All sales of artwork will go directly to the artists. Interested artists can apply HERE. Acceptance emails will be sent on September 10th, 2026. Applying does not guarantee acceptance into the show.

PARKING at DBL Visitors with disability hangers or license plates are invited to park immediately in front of the DBL office building, where there are designated reserved spaces. For all other visitors, we recommend parking at one of the following nearby convenient locations:

  1. 381 Greenup Street surface parking lot immediately across 4th Street from The Covington Yard (the northwest corner of 4th& Greenup Streets).  The entrance is on the left immediately after crossing 4th Our office building entrance is a short one-half block west.  We recommend crossing to the south side of 4th Street at the pedestrian crossing at 4th and Greenup Streets.
  2. The City of Covington Midtown parking garage at the southwest corner of 5th Street and Scott Boulevard.  Our office building is a short one and one-half blocks northeast of the garage.  We recommend crossing to the east side of Scott Boulevard at the pedestrian crossing at 5th Street and Scott Boulevard.
  3. The Kenton County Parking Garage (attached to the Kenton County Justice Center) at 220 Madison Avenue.  Our office building is a short two blocks southeast of the garage.  We recommend walking south on Madison Avenue, then turn left on the south side of 4th Street.
  4. Metered street parking along Court Street and Park Avenue immediately to the north of our building.

Art & Storytime! | Thursdays, June 18 – July 30 | 10:00 am

Join Baker Hunt and Read Ready Covington for a FREE Art & Storytime! Children ages 4-6 (and siblings) will enjoy a different book each week, read by a guest storyteller, then have a fun time making themed art with our Baker Hunt instructors! We end with play time outside!

Read Ready Covington is a city-wide early literacy initiative. Offering all residents access to diverse resources and information to use at home and on-the-go.

WHY? Families and our community need to better prepare our little ones with the early experiences they need to be ready for kindergarten to continue being successful through their school years.

This event is FREE, however registration is required for each event.

Material Memory – Call for Entries

Every dent, weld, and weave is a mark of time. We are seeking three-dimensional works that explore the physical object as an archive of human experience. From rigid steel and weathered stone to delicate fiber and found objects, “Material Memory” focuses on how artists use mass, texture, and form to give a “body” to fleeting thoughts and experiences. Open to all artists working in three-dimensional media (including sculpture, metalwork, mosaic, fiber arts, mixed media, clay, etc.). We also invite submissions that demand a physical encounter and remind the viewer that our memories are often anchored in the objects we leave behind. Application Link
