Ceramic Cats : Smitten Kittens

Class:
Are you FELINE the love? Join ceramicist Charity in making a smitten kitten. This is perfect for your favorite partners in crime, couples, or even just a way to treat yourself this Valentines Day. Take the opportunity to either have your very own smitten kitten, or have a whole litter with your crew!
What You’ll Learn:
During this class, students will learn the fundamental steps to create their own ceramic cat.
These include :
- Slab building
- Slipping and scoring
- Basic finishing techniques
- Simple surface decoration
What You’ll Leave With:
By the end of this class, students will have learned some introductory skills to hand building and will have their very own ceramic cat!
(Student work will go through two firings after the workshop has been completed. Baker Hunt will provide glaze options for the students and will glaze their work for them. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and is available for pick up on a later date.)

Recommended: Ages 14-15 years of age be accompanied by a paying Adult (16+).

CAMP Theme:
Learning how to work with clay to make sculpture, dishes, and other fun projects!
What You’ll Discover:
Have fun in the mud! In this week-long exploration of pottery, you will learn fun handbuilding techniques, such as pinch, slab, coil, etc., discover the fascinating physics and chemistry of pottery, and make a whole batch of pots, mugs, and sculptures to take home!
What You’ll Create:
You will create a number of fun projects such as coil pots, slab vases, planters, figurines, and so much more!
Before & After-care Available:
Before & After-care provides additional time before and after camp for early drop-offs and late pick-ups. Before-Care starts at 8am, and After-Care ends at 4pm. To enroll, add the Before & After-care “ticket” to your registration.

Youth Handbuilding

January 10 – January 31 | Ages 9-14
Explore the magic of clay as we create beautiful pieces of pottery, in a positive and creative atmosphere. This class focuses on the foundations of clay handling, technique development, glazing, and decorating as they work on teacher-led projects and practices.
Students are required to follow the instructor’s curriculum. Only work produced from that curriculum will be fired.
What You’ll Learn:
Student’s will learn fundamental skills in handbuiling such as building from pinch pots and coils, introductory surface decoration, and the basics of glazing.
What You’ll Leave With:
Students taking this class will learn introductory skills in ceramics and will leave with 2-5 pieces.
(Students will submit glazed works for final firing on the last class of the session. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and available for pick up on a later date)
