Class:
Intro to Coiled Basketry introduces participants to foundational basket-making techniques through the practice of coiling. Using a range of natural and found fibers, including pine needles, students will learn how to build form through stitching, tension, and repetition. The class emphasizes material exploration, hand skills, and an understanding of basketry as both a functional and historically significant craft practice.
What You’ll Learn:
In a group learning environment, you’ll learn the basic skills of coiled basketry making, and learn fun information such as coiled basketry across cultures and histories, Emphasis on tension, stitch consistency, and building even stitches, and so much more!
What You’ll Leave With:
.By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a beautifully handwoven basket and a deeper appreciation for the tactile knowledge carried through craft.
