Step back in time and explore the artistry and traditions of the Pueblo peoples! In this hands-on homeschool ceramics course, students will learn about the history, symbolism, uses, and techniques behind Pueblo pottery.
What You’ll Learn:
Through guided projects, students will experiment with hand-building methods such as building and shaping pieces with coils, practice surface decoration techniques inspired by Pueblo designs, and learn about the natural materials traditionally used to create these distinctive pieces. Alongside the studio work, students will discuss the cultural significance of pottery in Pueblo life, emphasizing respect, appreciation, and understanding of Indigenous art traditions.
What You’ll Leave With:
Students in this class will create one to two projects inspired by the Pueblo peoples’ pottery!
