T-shirt Yarn Tote Bags
Monday, 6:00pm
July 6 – July 27 | Ages 13-17
***No Classes The Week Of June 29th – July 5th***
Class Description:
This four-week class invites teens to explore sustainability and creativity by transforming old T-shirts into functional, handmade tote bags. Combining upcycling with beginner-friendly crochet, students will learn how to turn everyday clothing into something both practical and uniquely their own.
What You’ll Learn:
In the first week, participants will learn how to cut and prepare T-shirts into continuous “yarn,” exploring different methods and textures. Week two introduces the basics of crochet, including foundational stitches and how to start a project. In week three, students will begin constructing their tote bags, building confidence as they see their work take shape. By the final week, they’ll complete their bags, add finishing touches like handles or decorative elements, and troubleshoot any remaining steps.
What You’ll Leave With:
By the end, each teen will leave with a durable, eco-friendly tote bag and the knowledge to continue creating on their own.
