Material Memory – Call for Entries

Every dent, weld, and weave is a mark of time. We are seeking three-dimensional works that explore the physical object as an archive of human experience. From rigid steel and weathered stone to delicate fiber and found objects, “Material Memory” focuses on how artists use mass, texture, and form to give a “body” to fleeting thoughts and experiences. Open to all artists working in three-dimensional media (including sculpture, metalwork, mosaic, fiber arts, mixed media, clay, etc.). We also invite submissions that demand a physical encounter and remind the viewer that our memories are often anchored in the objects we leave behind. Application Link

Welcome The Last Troubadour

The Last Troubadour is an alternative band from Cincinnati who records and performs their own original music. This 4 person band has played at the Madison Theater, MOTR Pub, the Southgate House, Northside Tavern, and more. The band includes Frankie’s brother Bernie (Drums/Percussion), and friends Joe Von Wahlde (Lead Guitar), and James Wallace (Bass). Being the creative powerhouse of the band, Frankie Hill has derived his lyrics from a comic book series he created titled, “The Last Troubadour”. His lyrics follow the story line of the comic and cover themes such as love, grief, anger, and despair, as well as revolution, glory, and hope for the future. MEET THE ARTIST

Chris Rust is a native of Northern Kentucky. He grew up in Camp Springs where he attended Saint Joseph Grade School and later Campbell County High School. He attended Northern Kentucky University, University of Cincinnati, and Gateway Community College. Chris is married to Stacey Sprague-Rust, and they have three boys: Chay, Connor, and Curtis. They currently reside in Fort Thomas.

Chris has always been creative and has worked in many media, including painting and drawing. Chris began carving when his mother asked him to carve a bear for her. He took a break from carving for a few years.

Chris starting carving again while building trails in Fort Thomas’ Highland Hills Park in 2015. Chris helped expand the trails only to discover that a number of large dead ash trees had to be removed for safety. The remaining stumps became the canvas for the occasional carving. Those carvings still adorn the trails. As the number of carvings grew, so did the interest from people who wanted carvings of their own. At that point the hobby became a business, and CR Carving was born in 2020.
