Animal Portraits – Let’s Get Whacky!

General Class Description

For animal lovers everywhere, this class goes over the basics of how to drawing animals – breaking down the basic shapes and nailing composition. Once a good base has been built, you will pick aspects of your animal to stylize – ex: making its legs thicker, eyes bigger, shortening or lengthening the tail. Last step: break out of the box! What else can you add to it to make it one of a kind? ex: whacky colors, wings, extra eyes, horns, flowers, textures, the list goes on!

What Will Students Learn?

– the fundamentals of drawing animals, including proportioning and size
– a variety of methods to stylize a drawing
– how to think outside the box and get creative

What Will Students Leave With?

A painting of an animal creation and a newfound sense of their own creative style.
