Creating Web Pages & Sites!
Saturday, 12:00pm – 2:30pm
October 24 – November 7 | Ages 14+
General Class Description
Just starting out on a venture, passion, or story that you would like to make into a website? Don’t know where to start? Or how? Or do you know a little, but need better tools? Then this class is for you! Publish whatever you want, formatted however you want, visible to everyone with the link. And protect your work from AI crawlers.
What Will Students Learn?
Just enough knowledge on how to make a public web page that you can build upon and self-actualize if you like. “Enough to be dangerous” means you’ll have the chance to make mistakes, get messy, and see errors, but the instructor will be there to help pull you out of them. By the time you’re done, you’ll know how you can learn to make, and publish, the content that you want.
- HTML, CSS
- FTP to publish websites
- When and how to save as JPEG, PNG, SVG, and other image file formats
- Anti-AI protections
- Awareness of how to make your websites fast, private, safe, and accessible to people with disabilities
- If you make good time, maybe even PHP, SVG, JavaScript, etc.
What Will Students Leave With?
A real-deal no-foolin’ personal website on the public Internet that you have complete control over. Probably attached to a subdomain, but you can hook up your own domain name if you prefer.
Instructor: Taylor Hunt
