Capture and Frame an Image in Clay
Monday, 6:00 pm
April 20 – May 11
Learn how to make a ceramic tile, including practicing techniques of wedging and using a slab roller. After making a leather-hard piece of tile, you will work from a photograph to capture your image in clay. You will learn a technique of pin-pricking a design through paper to “draw” your image in clay. Then your piece will be bisque-fired. Then you will learn how to use underglaze and a top glaze to decorate your piece. Then your tile will be fired again. Before it’s complete, you will learn how to make a custom wood frame for your tile.
