SUMMARY:Intermediate Wheel Throwing <br/>Thursdays, 6:00pm <br/> June 4 – July 30 | Ages 16-99+
DESCRIPTION:***No Classes The Week Of June 29th – July 5th***\nClass:\nCreate challenging functional, decorative, and sculptural forms using the pottery wheel. Develop various throwing techniques introduced from previous beginning-level throwing classes.\nWhat You’ll Learn:\nIn a small group learning environment, you will learn step-by-step instructions to improve existing wheel-throwing skills, create more advanced forms, and explore advanced glazing methods by working on teacher-led projects and practices. With these new skills, you will learn how to throw the three basic forms on a potter’s wheel such as: plates, lidded forms, throwing larger forms, more unique shaping techniques, and surface manipulation.\nWe prefer that students have taken a couple beginner wheel-throwing classes before registering for this class.\n***(Students are required to follow the instructor’s curriculum. Only work produced from that curriculum will be fired.)***\nWhat You’ll Leave With:\nDepending on the disciplinary skill of the student, a student may leave with 7-12 completed pieces of pottery from 25lb bag of clay.\n(Students will submit glazed works for final firing on the last class of the session. Students will be contacted, via email, once their pottery has finished firing and available for pick up on a later date)\nDeadline to register by: May 30th \nInstructor:  Harmony Maine ( https://www.bakerhunt.org/harmony-maine-2/ ) \n\nSupply List\nStudents will need to bring:\n\nOwn set of clay or throwing tools\nLarge cleaning sponge\nSmall clay work sponge\nApprox. 2ft x 2ft piece of Canvas\nSmall bucket for cleaning and tool storage\n(Optional) Small/detail paintbrushes for glazing\n(Optional) Plastic bags for wrapping work\n\nStudents will be provided:\n\nShelf space as close to their creation station as possible\n(1x) bag of clay\n\nLinks to Class Required Items: (These are recommendations, not the required brands\n\nClay / Throwing Tools ( https://www.amazon.com/Pottery-Wheel-Tools/s?k=Pottery+Wheel+Tools )\nLarge Cleaning Sponge ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001B0GQHO/ref=twister_B06Y57CKD7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 )\nSmall clay work sponge ( https://smile.amazon.com/Xiem-Tools-Super-Sponges-Bodies/dp/B092RFNP38/ref=sr_1_15?crid=1RVZRUJP8GUZW&keywords=small+throwing+sponge&qid=1674740357&sprefix=small+throwing+spon%2Caps%2C177&sr=8-15 )\n\nWe recommend buying a basic toolkit with a small sponge included.\n\n\nSmall Bucket for cleaning ( https://smile.amazon.com/Collapsible-Foldable-Container-Silicone-Backpacking/dp/B081V7QXFR/ref=sxin_15_pa_sp_search_thematic_sspa?content-id=amzn1.sym.14a246c3-7a62-40bf-bdd0-5ac67c2a1913%3Aamzn1.sym.14a246c3-7a62-40bf-bdd0-5ac67c2a1913&crid=2BTYGRU1ITNRF&cv_ct_cx=small+water+bucket&keywords=small+water+bucket&pd_rd_i=B081V7QXFR&pd_rd_r=44f86053-a06c-45ce-8727-61180e2ba2dd&pd_rd_w=LxY7x&pd_rd_wg=xvH4U&pf_rd_p=14a246c3-7a62-40bf-bdd0-5ac67c2a1913&pf_rd_r=3S1DZ0D33SSWYAZHWN9H&qid=1674740430&sprefix=small+water+bu%2Caps%2C130&sr=1-3-a73d1c8c-2fd2-4f19-aa41-2df022bcb241-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzVjlBVjZXVFRWUEpMJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNzE5NjMzMllLNzdCSVY3S1ZPOCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMzg0MjAzMzIxNFlHMDk0Q1lZRyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX3NlYXJjaF90aGVtYXRpYyZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= )\n\nAny clean, small to medium sized bucket will do.\n\n\nCanvas ( https://www.amazon.com/s?k=pottery+canvas&crid=1C1BY2QXB02MO&sprefix=pottery+canvas%2Caps%2C106&ref=nb_sb_noss_1 )\n\nWe recommend a minimum of 2ft x 2ft piece.\n\n\n\n\n
